Too many staff, too few lockers, ViS Security Solutions in partnership with Salto Systems introduce the i-locker.

It is good security practice to provide members of staff with a locker room facility, ensuring that personal belongings such as bags are not taken into the workplace. In the larger workplace environments where there may be alternate shifts there is often a requirement to provide lockers for all staff members. This can be quite costly to implement and also to administer. Loss of keys, staff holidays and absence, and members of staff leaving often lead to lockers being unused for prolonged periods. There are also additional costs that can be incurred with re-producing new keys, changing locks and administration.

Salto have the solution to this problem with the i-locker. The i-locker electronic lock is designed to provide a high level of security for lockers and cabinets. It features a large twist operated locking turn for ease of use, and the card access reader is built into the outside of the escutcheon. The locking mechanism is battery powered using 3 AAA batteries which can be monitored by storing the battery condition on the access control card each time the i-locker is used, making maintenance of the lockers a lot more easier.

Working in conjunction with the Salto Pro Access Software and On-Line controller, each time you swipe through the On-Line controller, information is retrieved from the card and stored on the software. Each i-locker can be free assignment meaning that when a member of staff presents their access control card to the i-locker, the locker is secured for the period of their shift. On leaving all they simply do is present their access control card to the i-locker, unlock and remove their personal belongings. There is a convenient display on the front of the i-locker which highlights if the locker is in use or not for incoming members of staff. The i-locker is compatible with multiple access control card types, therefore it can be seamlessly integrated with existing systems and card technologies.
